Jim's Bio


Jim joined Chicago Partners in May, 2020 after spending nearly 30 years as an analyst and portfolio manager at an institutional firm in Chicago.

He holds a Bachelor of Science from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Rochester.  He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and Certified Financial Planner® designations.

Jim served two terms as an elected Trustee on the La Grange Village Board, where he helped residents reduce their utility costs by permitting them to select alternative electricity providers.  Additionally, he worked to adequately fund the Village’s police and fire pension funds by using appropriate actuarial assumptions.

His favorite charities include the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and The Legacy Guild, which provides college scholarships for local students who have lost a parent.

Jim and his wife Joan Vander Linde, a corporate securities attorney, live in La Grange and have two grown daughters.
